I am Doctor K.Pushpalatha, retired professor from government of Ayurvedic Medical College, Bangalore, Karnataka. I was born in Bangalore in the year 1951, so I am a native of Bangalore. I am from a middle class Kannada speaking family, my father was working for Military Engineering Services. Soon I was born, my father was transferred to Pune, so my primary education and childhood was in Pune, that is Maharashtra in Pune. I was studying in the government Marathi school wherein the medium of instruction was Marathi. So I did not have the knowledge of English at all because I was there only till 3rd standard.
I was the youngest child in the family. I have an elder brother and an elder sister. My mother was a housewife. In my childhood, I was very mischievous and very naughty. And I used to run here and there and get hurt every time and whenever I was hurt, whenever there was bleeding, my mother used to treat with home remedies like applying turmeric, applying coffee powder or sugar. Whenever there was injury on the lip, she used to apply sugar on the lip to stop bleeding. This was home remedies or the first aid that she was doing.

Ayurveda In India
It is estimated that 80 percent of people in India use some form of traditional medicine, a category that includes Ayurveda. India is the birthplace of Ayurveda. Ayurveda can be traced back to the ancient Vedic scripts in the Indian culture. Ayurveda resides in its purest form here in India. Rare and unique scripts can be easily found in India. Moreover, the availability of the ingredients required for practicing Ayurveda is immense and unpatrolled.
Ayurveda is all about balancing the elements in the body through various ways and requires practical as well as theoretical expertise.
The knowledge of Ayurveda can be easily found in households of India with the elders having a vast knowledge of the science. It is very common for Indians to treat problems with Ayurveda. Ayurveda is a medical science. Today Ayurveda takes advantage of modern scanning systems to pinpoint the issues and give the right medication which cuts down months if not years to alleviate the diseases. For one part Ayurveda is does not pose serious risk of side effects, so it can be safely used.
